You need regular voiceover, Murf keeps appearing as a free AI voice generator, and its pricing page shows nothing until JavaScript loads. Here is the direct answer on Murf AI pricing: Murf’s own blog lists Creator from US$29 per user per month and Business from US$99, the free trial cannot download audio, and every paid plan includes commercial rights. Confirm the exact plan’s price, billing period and allowance first: the blog’s Lite/Plus names do not map clearly onto the help centre’s Creator/Growth names.
This page shows what each plan includes, how Murf counts usage, a worked cost example, and when Speechify Studio or WellSaid fits better. Plan facts also sit on the Murf profile.
How much does Murf AI cost?
Murf does not publish its prices in a form we could read on the pricing page, so we used the prices Murf itself prints in its blog. Its post on AI voice generators, dated 20 August 2026, lists the plans below “per user per month”, with an asterisk telling readers to check the pricing page for updates. A Murf post dated 30 July 2026 shows the same figures.
| Plan | Lite | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Free | US$0 (trial, no downloads) | |
| Creator | US$29 per user per month | US$49 per user per month |
| Business | US$99 per user per month | US$199 per user per month |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing | |

Two things the blog does not say: whether these are monthly-billing rates, and what a yearly plan costs. We could not read Murf’s yearly figures, so we do not quote any. Check both billing options on murf.ai/pricing before you pay, and add your local sales tax or VAT.
Other sites quote different Murf prices. We have not repeated them, because none of the pages we read linked to an official source.
What does each Murf plan include?
Murf’s help centre defines the plans by voice generation time (VGT) and project credits. This is the number to size your plan by, because a plan that runs out mid-month costs more than one with spare hours.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing | Project credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free trial | 10 minutes in total, no downloads | 2 | |
| Creator | 2 hours a month | 24 hours a year | 5 |
| Growth | 8 hours a month | 96 hours a year | 50 |
| Business | 20 hours a month | 240 hours a year | 200 |
| Enterprise | Not listed; contact Murf | Not listed | |
Scroll sideways to see every column.
A naming mismatch to ask about. The help centre names Creator, Growth and Business. The blog names Creator and Business, each in Lite and Plus versions, and no Growth plan. Murf’s pages we read do not map one set of names onto the other. Before you buy, ask Murf, or check at checkout, how many VGT hours and project credits the exact plan you choose includes.
Murf Studio is a browser studio with over 300 voices across over 33 languages, according to the help centre, which also lists voice cloning, translation, dubbing and an API.
Is the Murf API priced separately?
Yes. The help centre keeps API pricing and plans in a section of its own, apart from the Studio plans above, and Murf’s startup programme measures API allowances in characters rather than VGT: it offers eligible early-stage companies 50 million free characters for three months plus special API pricing. If you only need voiceovers for videos or courses, ignore the API and compare Studio plans.
Is Murf AI free?
Only as a trial. The help centre lists 10 minutes of voice generation, 10 minutes of transcription and access to all voices, with no credit card. The trial has no end date and expires when the minutes are used.
The catch is downloads. Murf says downloading and exporting projects is only available on a paid plan. You can share a preview link or create an embed link, but you cannot put the audio file into a video editor. Treat the trial as a sound check for one real script.
Is Murf AI free for commercial use?
No. Commercial use needs a paid plan, and the trial cannot download audio anyway. The help centre says all paid plans include commercial rights, and the terms say you can use Murf-created voices commercially, though you may not resell Murf’s services.
Four details matter for business buyers:
- YouTube. Murf says you can monetize on YouTube and other streaming platforms if your content is original and does not break copyright law. It adds that platform policies on AI voices keep changing, so check YouTube’s own rules too.
- Rights after cancelling. Commercial and business usage rights stay valid for voiceovers you created, even after you cancel.
- Broadcast. TV networks and commercial radio need Broadcasting Rights, which Murf says are exclusive to Enterprise plans.
- Business License. The help centre recommends a Business License for registered businesses. It does not say which plans include it, so ask before buying for a company.
How does Murf count voice generation time?
Murf uses VGT when you render a new block or change the text in an existing one. Changing the voice, style, pitch, speed, pauses, emphasis, pronunciation, punctuation or volume of existing text does not use VGT. That makes Murf forgiving for line-by-line polishing, and costly for heavy rewrites.
- Rough sizing: a 1,000-word English script uses about 6 minutes of VGT, according to the help centre, before any text changes.
- Carry forward: unused VGT rolls into the next cycle once when the plan renews. A paused plan keeps it. It is lost if you cancel or if the renewal payment fails.
- Refunds: the terms exclude purchases older than 24 hours or used for more than 10 minutes of conversion.
Should you pay monthly or yearly?
Pay monthly first unless your output is already steady. Yearly plans give the hours as one annual pool, such as 24 hours on Creator, which suits teams with uneven months. But refunds end after 24 hours, so a yearly plan bought before you know your real usage is money you cannot easily get back.
Switch to yearly once two or three months of usage show which plan fits, and only if the yearly price on the pricing page is lower.
Worked example: what a training team would pay
This is a hypothetical calculation from documented allowances and published prices, not a test.
Scenario. A training team voices eight lessons a month at about 1,200 words each, so 9,600 words. At Murf’s estimate of 6 minutes per 1,000 words, that is about 58 minutes of VGT. Script edits after review add a margin, say 30 percent, for roughly 75 minutes a month, or 15 hours a year.
Murf. The help centre’s Creator allowance of 2 hours a month covers it. If Creator Lite carries that allowance, the blog price of US$29 per user per month comes to US$348 a year for one editor, before tax. This is a conditional calculation, not a confirmed mapping between Creator Lite and the help centre’s Creator allowance.
Speechify Studio. Studio Starter is US$100 a year with 86,400 credits, and voiceover uses 1 credit per second. If those credits are a yearly total, that is 24 hours of voiceover a year, which also covers 15 hours.
WellSaid. Only downloaded minutes count, so retakes are free and the team needs about 58 minutes a month. Starter’s 20 minutes a month is too small. Pro lists 180 minutes a month at US$49 monthly, or 2,160 minutes a year at US$396 yearly.
Still to confirm: the plan allowance behind Murf’s Lite and Plus prices, yearly prices, tax in your country, and whether the team needs more than one editor, which Murf ties to Enterprise. Price is only half the decision; play your own script on each tool before choosing.
Murf AI vs Speechify: which should you choose?
Choose Murf or Speechify Studio for voiceovers, and Speechify’s reader app only for listening. Speechify sells two different products: a reader app for listening to documents and web pages, and Speechify Studio for creating voiceovers. Many “Murf vs Speechify” pages compare Murf with the reader app, which answers a different question.
| Fact | Murf | Speechify Studio | Speechify reader | WellSaid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Built for | Voiceover production | Voiceover production | Listening to text | Voiceover production |
| Billing unit | Voice generation time; settings changes free | Credits; voiceover uses 1 credit per second | Subscription | Downloaded minutes; generation unlimited on paid plans |
| Free tier | 10 minutes, no downloads | 600 credits, no commercial rights | 10 basic voices, speeds up to 1.5x | 3 download minutes a month, no commercial rights |
| Entry paid price | Creator Lite, US$29 per user per month (Murf blog) | Studio Starter, US$100 a year | Premium, US$29 a month billed monthly | Starter, US$19 a month or US$120 a year |
| Multiple editors | Enterprise only | Not stated on pricing page | Not relevant | Business, 1 to 5 seats |

Pick Speechify Studio if a low annual price matters most and you will check whether the credits are a yearly total. Its FAQ says Studio users own the audio output with commercial rights, but its free plan states no commercial usage rights. See the Speechify profile.
Pick the Speechify reader only if you want to listen to documents, articles or books. Its pricing page describes reading features, not voiceover licensing.
Pick WellSaid if you regenerate whole scripts often, since only downloads count, or if a small team needs shared seats. Its Starter, Pro and Business plans list English voices only. See the WellSaid profile.
Pick Murf if you mostly polish delivery on finished text, need languages beyond English, and want rights that survive cancellation.
Is Murf AI worth it?
Murf is worth paying for if you produce voiceovers every month and tune delivery more than you rewrite text. Those tuning changes are free of VGT, and commercial rights outlast the subscription. It is less good value for teams that need several editors below Enterprise, or for anyone who rewrites scripts heavily after hearing them.
We have not used Murf, so we cannot judge voice quality. You can judge it yourself for free. Use the trial on a script with your product names, prices and acronyms, then play the preview to two people who did not write it. If they flag the same words, check whether the pronunciation controls fix them before you pay.
Is Murf AI legit?
On verifiable facts, yes: it is a company with a published address, terms and privacy policy. Murf is operated by Murf Inc., 535 Mission Street, San Francisco, California. Its terms of service were updated on 19 December 2024 and are governed by Delaware law. Its privacy policy, updated 3 November 2023, says account information is permanently deleted within 30 days of account termination, with legal exceptions.
For voice cloning, the terms require explicit written consent from any third-party speaker. Read the terms and privacy policy yourself before uploading client material.
Who should skip Murf?
- Anyone who needs to publish audio without paying.
- Teams of two or more editors who cannot justify Enterprise.
- Producers who rewrite scripts heavily after recording; WellSaid’s unlimited generation may suit them better.
- Buyers who need a fixed annual price before committing, since Murf’s yearly prices were not readable from the pages we checked.
How to start with Murf
- Paste a real 1,000-word script into the free trial and note the VGT used.
- Adjust pronunciation and pauses, and confirm the balance did not drop.
- Multiply by your monthly word count and add 20 to 30 percent for edits.
- On murf.ai/pricing, check the price and VGT allowance for that plan, monthly and yearly.
- Buy only when you are ready to produce: refunds end after 24 hours or 10 minutes of conversion.
The AI voice tool checklist gives a test script outline and listener checks. Outbound vendor links are ordinary links; YourTechAI has no affiliate relationship with Murf, Speechify or WellSaid.
ElevenLabs vs Murf: a licensing comparison before the voice test
This Murf AI review does not establish a winner for voice quality. For ElevenLabs vs Murf, licensing is one documented difference you can compare before testing the same script.
| Check | ElevenLabs | Murf Studio |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial work | Official guidance excludes Free and permits eligible paid-plan output subject to terms; Beta Services are excluded | Official guidance includes commercial rights on paid Studio plans, subject to rights and licensing requirements |
| Special restrictions | Check the service used, rights to inputs and voice consent | Check business-license requirements; broadcast rights are Enterprise-only |
| Practical next step | Generate the same script on the plan and model you would use | Generate the same script on the Studio plan you would use |

How we researched this
Documentation researchBased on Murf's help centre articles on the free trial, workspaces, voice generation time, carry-forward, commercial rights and its startup programme, two Murf blog posts that list plan prices (dated 30 July and 20 August 2026), its terms of service (updated 19 December 2024) and privacy policy (updated 3 November 2023), all checked on 6 October 2026. Murf's pricing page needs JavaScript and was not readable, so prices come from Murf's own blog and need confirming at checkout. Comparisons use Speechify's and WellSaid's official pricing pages from the same date. We did not use Murf hands-on and make no claim about voice quality. The worked example is a calculation from documented allowances and published prices, not a test.
We did not test this product hands-on for this article.

Common questions
- How much does Murf AI cost per month?
- Murf's own blog, in a post dated 20 August 2026, lists Creator at US$29 (Lite) or US$49 (Plus) per user per month and Business at US$99 (Lite) or US$199 (Plus), with Enterprise on custom pricing. The post tells readers to check the pricing page for current figures, so confirm the price and billing period at checkout.
- Is Murf AI free?
- Murf offers a free trial, not a free plan for publishing. The help centre lists 10 minutes of voice generation and 10 minutes of transcription with access to all voices, no credit card, and no downloads. The trial has no end date and expires when the minutes are used.
- Is Murf AI free for commercial use?
- No. Commercial use needs a paid plan, and the free trial cannot download audio in any case. Murf's help centre says all paid plans include commercial rights, including monetizing original content on YouTube, while broadcast on TV or commercial radio needs an Enterprise plan.
- How much voiceover does a Murf plan include?
- The help centre lists 2 hours a month on Creator, 8 hours on Growth and 20 hours on Business, or 24, 96 and 240 hours a year on yearly billing. As a rough guide, Murf estimates a 1,000-word English script at about 6 minutes of voice generation time.
- Is Murf AI better than Speechify?
- They suit different jobs. Murf is a voiceover studio billed by voice generation time, while Speechify's main app is a reader for listening to documents. For voiceovers, compare Murf with Speechify Studio, which lists Studio Starter at US$100 a year with commercial rights; Speechify's free Studio plan has none.
- Can I keep using Murf audio after I cancel?
- Yes. Murf's help centre says commercial and business usage rights for voiceovers you created stay valid after cancellation. Any carried-over voice generation time is lost when you cancel, but kept if you pause instead.
- Does Murf refund unused plans?
- Only narrowly. Murf's terms say subscriptions or packs bought more than 24 hours ago, or used for more than 10 minutes of text to speech conversion, are not eligible for refunds. Test in the free trial first.
- Is Murf AI legit?
- Murf is run by Murf Inc., which lists an address at 535 Mission Street, San Francisco. It publishes terms of service governed by Delaware law, a privacy policy, a refund rule and consent requirements for voice cloning. Read those pages yourself before uploading client scripts or voices.
